My First Attempt at Copics

This past week my friend Michlle (sf9erfan) and I attended a Copic certification class. She is an old hand at using Copic markers, but I am brand new to this medium. The ironic thing is that I sell Copic Markers in my store, but had not yet gotten any for my own use. I colored this image at the Copic class and I loved the way it turned out with perfectly blended colors and fabulous shades of purple. For the life of me, I cannot remember which colors of markers I used, but I sure wish I had written them down.

I wanted to make this card very simple so the main focus would be on the coloring and the girl in the water. I used very few embellishments and went with a monochromatic color scheme to keep things clean looking.

Here's the deets:

Materials used:
  • Basic Grey Wisteria 6x6 paper pack
  • Neenah Classic Crest Solar White (main image)
  • Stampin' Up! Elegant Eggplant CS
  • Papertrey White CS (card base)
  • Stamps: Seaside Sketches from Stampin' Up! and Out on Limb from Papertrey. I used the smaller version of the Out on a Limb sentiments that came with the original set.
  • Copic Markers, I think in the V and BV lines.
  • Eggplant and Iris Organdy from Pink Hedgehog Paper Crafts
  • Tucked in the bottom right corner, I also used some Oregon Raindrops in Amethyst, coming soon to Pink Hedgehog Paper Crafts.....maybe even today!! Keep an eye out!
The Copic training event was packed with information. I absorbed a great deal of knowledge and got inspired to start my own Copic collection at my stamping desk. Thanks to Marianne Walker for her patience with our questions and sharing her vast store of knowledge with us. Kudos to Marianne for making it a super fun day!! You can visit her blog here to learn more than you ever wanted to know about using Copics.
